CEO Corner

At the start of the summer, my son Aiden and I took our first hike of the season, a tradition that we started when he was just 5-years-old. We have logged countless miles across Colorado and on the trail that day I suggested we set a goal to summit our first Fourteener together. He was instantly game and didn’t hesitate to commit to the idea. Granted, he probably didn’t know that to reach the summit of Quandary Peak (14,271 ft), it would take us a total of 6+ hours and result in countless snack breaks and sore muscles.

I love that kids so rarely see obstacles unless we point them out and with the right amount of support and encouragement, they really can do anything they set their minds to in life. At BGCLC, our staff and programs help illuminate opportunities for youth members and open their minds to limitless possibilities. From career exploration during our Summer of Discovery to our Workforce Leadership program, our kids at BGCLC are identifying their passions, achieving new goals and creating dreams for their futures.

Aiden and I are already making plans for our next Fourteener in the summer of 2024. At the same time, we’ll be launching the expansion of our Summer of Discovery program into our Loveland Pulliam Club. It will be our third site to offer this fun and experiential learning program and your support of BGCLC helps to make this growth possible. The trail of life can be full of challenges, but when we come together to support our youth, the sky truly is the limit for what they can achieve. And the views from the top can be pretty incredible too!
