A Chat with the Board: Zachary Wilson

Zachary Wilson was the recipient of the national BGCA Champion for Youth Award in 2018, and he recently celebrated 30 years on the BGCLC Board of Directors. We asked him some questions about his time at BGCLC:
Q: What have you learned from working with our organization?
Probably my most enjoyable aspect of my time with BGCLC is getting to work with all the great board members and staff over the years.
Q: What does “success” mean to you in terms of your work as a board member?
I’ve learned that great staffing is the key to our success, along with the guidance and support provided by the board. You need to show results for donors to keep giving. Those results are most evident from the individual success stories of the kids themselves who say that BGCLC got them through hard times, difficult home situations, or gave them a reason to stay in school and graduate.
Q: Tell me about a memory or story that sticks out to you while serving on the board?
My favorite story was getting together with Kathi Wright in her kitchen to discuss a merger between our small new BGCLC in Fort Collins and Kathi’s Youth Empire organization in Loveland. It turned out to be a great move for both organizations.
Thank you for 30 years of service on the board!
Chili’N Out Community Night at Truscott Elementary

Hosted by our amazing Behavioral Health Team, this community night was a chance for 11 different community organizations to share resources with Club families.
And it was a chance for our staff to show off their skills in a chili cook-off! Congrats to Annie Baker, Social Worker, and Hallie Martin-Chadwick, Club Director, for winning the vegetarian chili category! And Jordan Haberkorn, Social Emotional Learning Coordinator, for winning the meat chili category!
Thank you to all partners, Club families and youth who made the night great.
